Description
- Juicy white flesh
- Beautiful spring blossom
- Grows well in UK, in a sheltered sunny position
- Excellent variety for fan training against a wall
Peach Peregrine is an old variety that has been available for over 100 years, it was first introduced in 1906. This variety is still one of the most popular of any white-fleshed peaches.
This variety can be grown in a sheltered position and it grows especially well in the UK, the variety produces heavy crops of delicious, juicy, white fleshed fruits with vibrant sun-ripened crimson skin.
This variety is the most respected of all of the white-flesh peaches. Beautiful early pink blossoms provide an eye-catching display. They make an excellent choice for training against a sunny wall.
Peregrine requires a sunny sheltered area. These trees should be planted 5m apart. They can be grown in a large pot or container but will require annual pruning in order to keep the tree in check.
When the fruits appear on the tree they need to be thinned out, this involves removing poorly placed, small or misshapen fruit when they are just 2cm wide. You should aim to have fruit every 15cm across the branches. The fruits ripen in mid to late August.
Rootstock: Prunus Persica
Flowering Group: Self-fertile
Years until fruiting from planting: 2-4
Height at full growth: 4m/13ft
In order to ensure a good pollination pick fruit trees from within the same or from adjacent flowering groups.
We may prune your tree before it arrives to your door. We do this to encourage your tree to branch freely which makes them better looking and more productive.
During summer delivery, our plants may exhibit signs of nature's hustle and bustle on their leaves. Since we have a high concentration of plants on the nursery, a variety of insects are drawn to them as a source of food and nutrition. We feel that this is all part of gardening and have to strike a balance between keeping the plants healthy for our customers and not interfering too much with natural lifecycles.
We try to use as many natural methods of control as possible and only intervene as a last resort. So you may see some leaves that are discoloured or with small areas where the insects have been eating them. Any high levels of damage or attack will have been dealt with prior to delivery and plants graded out as best as possible when selected for packing. No plants will be delivered with damage that will affect the future growth or success of harvest.
