Flowering
Perhaps better known by the name of Cotton Lavender Lemon Fizz, this interesting plant brings a touch of class to a garden thanks to its distinctive shape and appearance. Santolina Lemon Fizz is well-loved because of its lightly aromatic foliage and attractive structure.
Flowering from around late May and well into August, this variety produces a bright lemon flower that’s like a pinhead that gives off a glowing presence in the summer. The fragrance is soft but detectible and with each plant able to spread to around 39inches (1m) wide, the aroma it creates is very enjoyable when you’re around it. Santolina Lemon Fizz reaches a full-grown height of about 20inches (50cm) in the tallest plants.
A shrub that’s compact in nature and able to thrive in sand, loam, or chalk soil as long as it’s moist and well-drained, it compliments more fanciful plants very well and creates a ground covering that can be very eye-catching. Santolina Lemon Fizz prefers a sunny location in beds and borders and some shelter from exposed winds will also help it to flourish.
With a bushy habit, this evergreen should be south or west-facing to get the best results and can be planted outside all year thanks to its hardiness in UK conditions.
Guide To Plant Sizes
Guide to Shrub Plant Sizes
Our Shrubs come in sizes from 9cm pots up to 15L. All are mature enough to be planted out into their final position in the garden.
How you will receive your plants:
Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, you will receive your plant in a pot. If you have ordered your shrub during autumn or winter it may appear yellow or have no leaves. The plant is still healthy and ready to plant but looks different during different seasons.
Can’t plant straight away?
Place in a sheltered spot and water regularly to keep the compost moist.
Planting instructions:
Unpack and as long as the weather is favourable, put outside as soon as it arrives and give it a water.
When ready to plant, ensure it’s positioned in the right location and aspect in the garden.
Keep the area around it clear to avoid overcrowding which reduces its establishment and growth.
Dig a hole approximately twice as deep and 3 times as wide as the plant’s rootball. If your soil is heavy, mix in a soil improver before backfilling. We also recommend adding plant feed into the hole before back filling to help establishment and growth.
Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same level in the ground as it did in the pot. Firm the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
Feeding and aftercare: Keep it well watered and fed for establishment and growth. Trim in summer if needed to maintain the shape of the plant. Can be mulched in autumn/spring each year.
Planting and Flowering Months:
Planting and flowering months are subject to seasonal weather conditions. Shrubs can be planted all year round but take extra care during the cold winter months to avoid frost and hot summer months with extra watering.
