Description
- Quick growing variety
- Resistant to bruising, blackleg, scab and eelworm
- Suited for growing under fleece
'Swift' is aptly named for its rapid growth, producing harvestable crops in as little as 8 weeks from planting. These potatoes yield delicate-tasting baby new potatoes with round, smooth, white flesh, perfect for steaming and using in salads.
The bushy nature of 'Swift' makes it an excellent choice for small or limited growing spaces. Its compact size also makes it well-suited for growing under protective fleece covers, which provide a warmer environment that accelerates growth. This protective layer not only speeds up growth but also offers added defense against common blights.
Chitting seed potatoes is a long honoured tradition and can lead to earlier and larger yields. The process encourages the emergence of shoots before the seed is planted in the ground. We are managing the pre-chitting process for you so you don't have to buy your seed potatoes as early as you normally would and you can receive these at the optimum time for planting.
Disease Resistance
'Swift' boasts impressive resistance to a range of pests and diseases, including bruising, blackleg, scab, virus, and eelworm infection. This natural resilience makes it a reliable choice for home gardeners seeking low-maintenance potato varieties.

Additional Info
All our seed potatoes are graded to a size 35mm x 35mm to 55mm x 55mm. This means that the smallest seed potatoes in the sample will not fall through an 35mm square. This does mean there will be various sizes within the pack. More modern varieties are more equal in size but as we want to offer the more unusual and Heritage varieties, these are more variable but we will always supply the weight stated. Any harvest will depend on individual growing conditions but generally smaller potatoes will produce smaller crops and larger potatoes will produce larger crops. But for example 1kg of seed potatoes will produce the same overall harvest whether the seed potatoes are small or large.

How to Guide
SWIFT POTATO SALAD SERVES 4
INGREDIENTS:
- 1-2 kg swift potatoes, halved
- 2 tbsp garlic mayo
- 2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
- 1 shallot, finely diced
- 1 tbsp capers, roughly chopped
- 1 tbsp cornichons, finely diced
- 2 spring onions or a bunch of chives, finely sliced
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Pinch of truffle sea salt
METHOD:
- Boil your potatoes in salted water for 12-15 mins depending on their size until cooked – check with a skewer or the tip of a knife.
- After straining but whilst the potatoes are still warm mix them in a large bowl with garlic mayonnaise, shallot, capers, cornichons, spring onions, lemon zest and season generously. Add the parsley last and toss gently so that the potatoes don’t break apart.
- Allow to cool or enjoy warm. Try serving this Cornish style potato salad with some steamed fish or chargrilled chicken breast.
