Description

Viola 'Sorbet Tiger Eye' looks almost hand-painted, with its fragrant golden-yellow flowers and intricate dark veining. It flowers abundantly all summer, adding bright colour to pots and windowboxes. The robust, vigorous plants cope well with wind and rain.
Sow indoors
February-September: Almost fill a seed trays with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in the warmth 15-20C and keep moist. Higher temperatures may inhibit germination. Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost.
Plant out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out. Allow 15cm (6in) between plants.
Tips
Keep the soil moist and deadhead regularly to prolong life. The petals add colour to salads.
