  • Good alternative to box hedging

Euonymus japonicus 'Green Spire' is a robust evergreen shrub with small green leaves and a narrow, upright shape. It grows well in a wide range of soils, in sun or partial shade, and makes an excellent alternative to box hedging in areas where box blight and/or box moth caterpillars are a problem.

Plant in sun or light shade, in all soil types except waterlogged soils. Trim in late spring and early autumn to keep to desired height and to encourage the plants to bush out. (Always check hedges for nests before trimming and never disturb nesting birds.)
