Creates seasonal interest for all months of the year. Train this colour-rich tree for one-year old stems that boast beautiful three-tone leaves of pink, green and white and bright red coloration which looks simply sublime in winter sun.
It’s easy to train your tree like this- in February cut all stems to about 7-8cm (3 in) from the ground and add a generous layer of mulch around the plant.
In spring, the beautiful tricolor leaves emerge, decorating vertical and tidy red stems, making it an excellent tree for the garden, planted in a border or a large container if you only have a small garden or balcony.
In winter, the leaves fall and reveal bright red stems which practically gleam and create gorgeous silhouettes in the winter sun.
Consider planting bulbs beneath to complete a lovely spring display. Pink tulips and hyacinths works wonders with the emerging young pink leaves.
Willows enjoy moist soils, so this variety works well even in soils that suffer from bad drainage.
