The impressive Chilean lantern tree develops well once in the ground and enjoys rich, moist soil (incorporate some farmyard manure if your soil is shallow or dry) to grow in. Given this, your Chilean lantern tree will do well in either sun or shade and add welcome height to your garden.

Useful tip

We recommend that you plant nearby tulips or primroses so you have an injection of flower colour before your Chilean lantern tree flowers in earnest in May. By planting vibrant smaller flowers nearby you extend the season of fantastic flower colour.
