Hydrangea macrophylla Salsa, or Mophead hydrangea Salsa, will add a distinctive dash of colour and fun around your garden. This deciduous shrub carries an oval form and the delicate colourful leaves contrast lovely with the dark green leaves.
Salsa displays a soft shade of pale pink that will eventually fade to a warm crimson colour. The petals and veined and high yielding to make this a busy plant that shows off everything that’s admired with this breed.
Hydrangea macrophylla Salsa actually alters depending on the soil it is placed in. In soil that’s alkaline, the flowers take on the traditional faded pink look, but in acidic soils they will become a violet blue colour.
To catch Salsa at its best, you’ll want to show it off from the peak flowering periods between May to August. This makes it a good value plant that provides warmth and attraction to your garden’s borders and containers.
