- Good crop of delicious fruit in mid-summer
- Dwarf apricot tree ideal for containers and small gardens
- Self-fertile
- Grown as a Patio Mini Stem tree
Enjoy picking your own apricots fresh from the tree, even in small gardens! Dwarf Apricot ‘Tros Orange’ produces a good crop of delicious small fruits in mid-summer, perfect for jams, desserts and fruit salads. Growing to just 2m high, this Patio Mini Stem tree is ideal for containers and small spaces, growing best in a sunny, sheltered spot.
Each year, after the fruiting in late summer, the head of these plants can be pruned as they are grafted on a short stem and have had their leaders removed to create a well-branched structure.
Avoid pruning during autumn or winter as this may promote silver leaf and bacterial diseases. Trim shoots by about half, eliminating any dead, diseased, or crossing branches.
How you will receive your plants:
Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, you will receive your plant in a pot, ready to plant out.
Can’t plant straight away?
Place the pot in a sheltered spot outdoors and water regularly to keep the soil moist.
Planting tips and hints:
Planting in the ground:
Dig a hole slightly wider than the rootball of the plant. Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same level in the ground as it did in the pot. When backfilling, mix in a soil improver such as well-rotted farmyard manure. Firm the soil around the plant and water well.
Planting in containers:
Choose a pot with good drainage holes. Place stones or crocks (bits of broken pottery) at the bottom of the pot to stop the drainage holes clogging up. Use a good quality loam-based compost like John Innes Peat Free no 3.
