Harvest
First introduced in the 1940s, Beetroot ‘Golden Globe’ produces round orange roots with golden yellow flesh and a sweeter, milder flavour than traditional red beets. This long-established variety is a colourful addition to the vegetable garden and tastes delicious roasted in warming winter dishes. Sow thickly, as it has a lower germination rate than red beetroot.
Sow outdoors
March-August: Sow seeds 2.5cm (1in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart keeping soil moist at all times. Thin to 5cm (2in) apart.
Tips
Sow little and often, every other week, for an ongoing supply from summer to autumn.
