Harvest

Harvest
  • High yield of succulent, creamy white spears.
  • Good disease resistance.
  • Valuable late winter cropper.

A white hybrid British grown variety that produces attractive, succulent snowy florets that resemble a mini cauliflower head. This unusual white sprout broccoli is rich with nutrients that will boost the immune system and offer a wealth of opportunities in the kitchen.

This British-bred white-sprouting broccoli is ready to harvest when other vegetables are scarce. Regular picking will encourage more shoots to be produced, resulting in a high yield of succulent spears on a strong, vigorous plant.

How To Grow

Broccoli is a must-grow for any kitchen garden, producing nutrient-rich, flavourful heads perfect for a variety of dishes. Whether you choose classic green or purple sprouting types, broccoli is rewarding and can extend your harvest across multiple seasons. Start seeds in trays or modules and transplant when strong enough. Broccoli thrives in firm, fertile soil with plenty of sunlight. Keep plants well-watered and protect from pests like caterpillars and pigeons for the best results.

Indoor Sowing
Fill modular trays with fine seed compost, ensuring it’s moist before sowing. Place the tray in a shallow water-filled container to soak from below. Sow one seed per module to allow roots to develop strongly. Keep compost consistently moist with a gentle mist and place trays in a warm, bright spot out of direct sunlight. Once seedlings develop true leaves or roots fill modules, they’re ready to harden off.

Planting Out
Harden off seedlings over 7–14 days by gradually increasing outdoor exposure. Transplant into beds or larger pots, spacing 45cm between plants and rows.

Outdoor Growing
Choose disease-resistant varieties to guard against club root. Use brassica collars to deter root fly and netting to protect from insects and birds.

Harvesting
Cut the main head first and the plant will continue producing smaller side shoots for several weeks, extending the harvest season.
