Flowering
Evergreen climber Star Jasmine Trachelospermum 'Pink Showers' fills the garden with fragrance in summer, covered in abundant scented starry pink flowers. Blooming from early summer through to autumn, it looks beautiful trained against a sunny wall or fence.
Provide support wires for the stems to twine around and tie in stems to train them in the right directions. Trim lightly after flowering to keep to the desired size.
How you will receive your plants:
Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, you will receive your plant in a pot, ready to plant out.
Can’t plant straight away?
Place the pot in a sheltered spot outdoors and water regularly to keep the soil moist.
Planting in the ground:
Dig a hole slightly wider than the rootball of the plant. Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same level in the ground as it did in the pot. When backfilling, mix in a?soil improver?such as well-rotted farmyard manure. Firm the soil around the plant and water well.
Planting in containers:
Choose a pot with good drainage holes. Place stones or crocks (bits of broken pottery) at the bottom of the pot to stop the drainage holes clogging up. Use a good quality?compost. Feed and water container-grown plants regularly.
Guide To Plant Sizes
Guide to Climbers Plant Sizes
Our Climbing Plants come in sizes from 7cm pots up to 7.5L. All are mature enough to be planted out into their final position in the garden.
Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, you will receive your plant in a pot. If you have ordered your climber during autumn or winter it may appear yellow or have no leaves. The plant is still healthy and ready to plant but looks different during different seasons.
Place in a sheltered spot and water regularly to keep the compost moist.
Planting instructions:
Unpack and as long as the weather is favourable, put outside as soon as it arrives and give it a water.
When ready to plant, ensure it’s positioned in the right location and aspect in the garden. Climbing plants should be positioned 45cm from the base of a wall, fence, trellis or structure to grow up. When planting, point the climber in the direction you want it to grow by tilting the rootball at a 45 degree angle.
Keep the area around it clear to avoid overcrowding which reduces its establishment and growth.
Dig a hole approximately twice as deep and 3 times as wide as the plant’s rootball. If your soil is heavy, mix in a soil improver before backfilling. We also recommend adding plant feed into the hole before back filling to help establishment and growth.
Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same level in the ground as it did in the pot. Firm the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
Feeding and aftercare: Keep it well watered and fed for establishment and growth. Apply wires or ties to support the climber and train it to the structure. Can be mulched in autumn/spring each year.
