Westland Hand Spreader:
Please refer to product pack for application dates. Also, do not exceed the stated application rate as overdosing can subsequently result in damaging your lawn.
Instructions:
Begin by measuring the treatment area and accurately weighing the necessary amount of product. Next, set the aperture to 0 and fill the spreader on a flat surface, avoiding lawns or cultivated areas. Choose the appropriate setting on the spreader and evenly distribute the product over the entire measured area. Finally, consistently turn the handle while walking at a normal pace. Keep in mind that the application rate may vary based on walking and handle turning speeds, so increase overlap as needed.

Notes:
- Guide settings only. Product variations may affect flow. Wear and tear can impact spreader performance.
- To avoid over-dosing, start with a lower setting before gradually increasing it.
- Make sure to complete a calibration check before the first use and each season thereafter.
- Make sure to clean the spreader thoroughly after each use to prevent the spreading mechanism from deteriorating.
- g/sqm = grams per square metre
Adjusting lawn spreader settings (Calibration Guide)
If you cannot locate your spreader in the list mentioned above, you can determine the appropriate setting to use.
To start, calculate the m2 area you wish to cover. Next, measure out a specified amount of product recommended for that area and place it into the spreader hopper. To prevent any harm to your lawn, begin by spreading one square metre on a wide sheet of plastic. Lastly, gather the product using a dustpan and brush and weigh it (using a non-valuable container as ferrous sulphate can lead to staining).
- Repeat as needed until you achieve the recommended application rate listed on the lawn product packet.
- Additionally, if you suspect you have over applied, promptly adjust the spreader setting instead of waiting until the entire lawn has been affected.
