The mix of summer-flowering annuals and a few perennials attracts hoverflies, ladybirds and other beneficial insects that boost pollination and help control garden pests. The flowers add a beautiful splash of summer colour to your vegetable garden too!

Sow outdoors

Rake soil to provide a firm, even surface. Sow seeds thinly 0.5cm deep in pre-watered soil, lightly covering them with a little more soil. Sowings made in semi-circular lines create a natural ‘drift’ effect. Mix the seeds with silver sand or fine compost, bulking out the mixture, for easier sowing over an area. Keep moist until seedlings appear and as required in dry spells.

Thinning

When large enough to handle thin seedlings to allow their development and prevent overcrowding. Contents may vary from flowers shown in the picture.
