Simple to grow, drought-tolerant and disease resistant, boysenberries are a winner in any kitchen garden, and can even be grown in a large container. Train them up a trellis or against a fence for easy picking, and enjoy the abundant harvests of juicy, dark purple berries from mid-July onward.
Guide To Plant Sizes
9cm - 10L Fruit Trees & Plants
Our fruit comes in a wide range of sizes to suits your style and budget. 9cm grower pots are young plants offering great value and will need to be potted in larger pots to grow on. Plants in 1L to 5L grower pots are more mature and can be planted straight into their final position. The larger pots are more mature plants, which will produce more fruit in their first season. Our 10L fruit trees are already 3 years old and pruned to give a good head shape for increased fruit production.
How To Grow
Plant your potted boysenberry in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice the size of the pot, gently loosen the roots, and plant at the same depth as in the container. Water well after planting and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
Provide support, such as a trellis or wires, to train the canes as they grow. In early spring, apply a balanced fertiliser and mulch around the base to retain moisture. Prune in late summer by removing old canes that have fruited, leaving new canes for next year’s crop. Enjoy sweet, juicy berries from early to mid-summer!
