Some varieties have an extra helping hand too, such as pre-spaced seed tape, compact plants, disease resistance or other useful growing traits. So you can spend less time worrying about getting everything right and more time enjoying what you've grown.

Fill a module seed tray with seed compost, gently firming the surface with the base of another tray. Water thoroughly using a fine rose attachment before sowing.

Sow one seed per module and lightly cover with a thin layer of fine compost or vermiculite. Place the tray in a propagator at 18-25°C, or cover with cling film and keep in a warm room. Maintain consistent moisture throughout the germination period, ensuring the compost does not dry out.

Once your seedlings have developed 4-6 leaves, transplant them into 8cm pots filled with potting compost and continue growing them on at a minimum temperature of 15°C. Keep plants in a bright position, protected from strong direct sunlight while they establish.

When roots begin to emerge from the bottom of the pots, move plants into 25cm containers in their final growing position.

Choose a warm, sunny spot to encourage the best crop of sweet peppers. Pinch out the growing tip to promote bushier growth, and provide support if stems become heavy with fruit.

Keep your plants well watered throughout the growing season, particularly during warm weather and while fruits are developing.

As the peppers begin to swell, start feeding weekly with a liquid tomato fertiliser to support healthy growth and encourage a plentiful harvest. With regular watering and feeding, your plants will continue producing plenty of sweet, bite-sized peppers throughout the season.

You can look forward to harvesting from around June to October, once the fruits have developed their full colour and sweet flavour.

Pick the peppers when they have turned a rich red colour and feel firm to the touch. Regular harvesting will encourage the plants to continue producing more fruits throughout the season.
