Easy to grow and highly productive, ‘Mini Muncher F1’ can produce up to 20 delicious cucumbers per week during the peak season. Keep plants well watered and regularly harvested, and you'll enjoy a steady supply of crunchy, refreshing fruits from June through to September.
Why Easy Wins?
New to growing from seed? Easy Wins is a great place to start. Each variety has been chosen to make growing your own flowers and vegetables simpler, with reliable varieties and clear, straightforward instructions to guide you from sowing to picking or flowering.
Some varieties have an extra helping hand too, such as pre-spaced seed tape, compact plants, disease resistance or other useful growing traits. So you can spend less time worrying about getting everything right and more time enjoying what you've grown.
How Do I Sow My Seeds?
Sowing Indoors from April to May. Level fill a module tray with seed compost, firming with the base of another tray. Water well. Sow seeds individually, on edge, pushing into compost 1-2cm deep. Place in the warmth, 20-25°C. Cover with cling film. Keep moist.
Where Should I Grow Them?
For Greenhouse Planting, plant out once temperatures remain above 12°C, spacing plants around 60cm apart in greenhouse borders, grow bags or large containers at least 30cm in diameter. Keep the soil consistently moist, watering regularly, particularly during warm weather, and feed with tomato feed to encourage plenty of fruit. Support plants with canes, wires or trellis to keep growth tidy and maximise space. Remove any male flowers that appear, as these can be identified by the absence of a small swelling behind the flower. Once plants reach the desired height, pinch out the main growing tip and trim side shoots as needed to encourage healthy growth and continued cropping.
For Outdoor Growing, sow seeds directly outdoors or plant out young plants from late May to early June, once all risk of frost has passed. Choose a warm, sunny and sheltered position with fertile, well-prepared soil enriched with organic matter. Keep plants well watered throughout the growing season and protect young seedlings with fleece or cloches until they are established. For smaller spaces, plants can also be grown successfully in large pots or containers on a patio, balcony or other sheltered spot from June onwards.
How Do I Look After Them?
As soon as seedlings emerge, remove any covering and place them in a bright position away from strong direct sunlight. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 8cm pots filled with quality potting compost. Continue growing them on in warm conditions, maintaining a temperature of 12 to 15°C until they are ready to be planted out.
When Can I Harvest?
Harvest from June to September, picking cucumbers regularly when they reach around 8cm long for the best flavour and texture. Check plants frequently and harvest fruits before they become overripe. Regular picking encourages the plant to produce even more crisp, tasty cucumbers throughout the season.
