Description
- Very productive climbing bean
- Heavy crop of long straight purple beans
- Superb flavour
- Stringless beans
French Bean ‘Carminat’ is a very productive climbing bean with abundant long straight fleshy deep purple pods produced from top to bottom of the plant. The beans are stringless and have a fantastic flavour, still tasting good even if you leave them slightly too long on the plant!
Sow indoors
April-May: Sow individually 5cm (2in) deep in clean pots or modules of compost. Water well. Keep warm.
Sow outdoors
May-June: Sow direct into the required harvest position, 5cm (2in) deep, 20cm (8in) apart. Allow 60cm (24in) between rows. Keep soil moist at all times.
Plant out
May-June: Plant out 20cm (8in) apart. Allow 60cm (24in) between rows.
Tips
Climbing beans require span style="text-decoration: underline;">plant supports to climb through. Build before you plant. Water generously and pick regularly for plentiful supply.
