Perlite is an excellent compost additive, providing the perfect balance of air and water for optimal root development. This ensures healthy, thriving plants by preventing waterlogging and minimizing root damage, particularly during transplanting.
When added to compost, Perlite accelerates rooting and helps prevent fungal diseases. It is a naturally occurring, non-toxic volcanic rock that has been heated to create a lightweight, micro-porous material with a high surface area. The material has been carefully graded to achieve a particle size of 2-5mm, making it an ideal choice for sowing seeds, rooting cuttings, potting on, and container growing.
For root cuttings, once the roots have developed, feed the plants as needed. When potting on, ensure the container or trough is fully planted, water thoroughly, and feed the plants as appropriate for continued growth.
