Harvest
Lonicera caerulea ‘Honeybee’ (Honeyberry) is a hardy, self-fertile shrub that offers both beauty and productivity. Thriving in all soil types, it produces fragrant white flowers in spring, followed by juicy blue fruits in summer. These fruits are similar to blueberries in texture but with a pleasantly tart, slightly astringent flavour.
Perfect for adding structure and height, ‘Honeybee’ also draws in bees and hoverflies, boosting pollination for nearby crops. Its resilience down to -40°C makes it an excellent choice for colder regions and reliable harvests year after year.
For best results, allow the plant to establish for its first two years. In the third year, prune a third of the older stems to ground level and lightly trim side shoots to encourage more fruiting growth.
