Flowering
Compact French lavender ‘Bandera Deep Purple’ has striking dark purple flowerheads topped with feathery violet bracts, and fragrant silver-green foliage. This very pretty lavender is ideal for pots on a sunny patio, attracting bees, butterflies and a host of other pollinators.
Sow indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Alternatively, sow seed in a module tray. Place in the warmth, 15-20°C, and keep moist.
Transplant/Grow on
Keep seedlings in a light position but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm apart into trays of potting compost. Alternatively, transplant individually into 8cm pots.
Plant out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out 30cm apart when the risk of frost has passed. Water well until established.
Aftercare
Trim back after flowering to maintain a compact habit.
How to grow
Sow seeds on to the surface of pre-watered seed compost, but don't cover them. Keep warm, around 20°C and keep moist, but not wet. Allow 1-2 weeks for germination.
