- Delicious dessert cherries
- Perfect as patio trees
- Comfortable picking height
Grow sweet cherry Van in your kitchen garden. Our trees grow perfectly in pots on sunny patios reaching a manageable 1.2m (4ft). It's a reliable sweet red dessert cherry for UK growers and a bowl of Van cherries makes a great addition to the summer dining table. The flesh is firm and the flesh, succulent.
Fruit is preceded by a wealth of flowers, bringing in important pollinating insects early in the year which stick around to pollinate pea, beans and other fruiting vegetables.
We recommend you prune lightly in August to create a good canopy shape. Remove any wayward branches fully that spoil the overall shape of the tree. Prune around a quarter of the fruit stems to a leafy-shoot further down the stem.

How to Guide
How your plants arrive
You receive our cherry trees as young specimens at around 28in tall, growing strongly and sturdily and primed to produce lots of sweet cherries for you.
They arrive as a main stem studded with buds with lots of growing potential in spring.
The roots are covered in a pot in a polythene bag to keep the roots perfectly humid while transported from our nursery to your home.
When they first go in the ground, it’s their roots that really get growing; you won’t see this as it’s all happening underground. Once spring turns into summer those roots will promote lots of green growth above the soil.
