Fill a small 7-8cm pot with seed compost, then gently level and firm the surface using the base of another pot. Water the compost well with a fine rose and sow seeds individually, pushing each seed approximately 1cm deep into the compost. Place pots in a propagator at 15-20°C, or cover with cling film and keep in a warm room until germination.

Sow seeds directly into their flowering positions in pre-watered soil at a depth of approximately 1.5cm. Keep the soil consistently moist until seedlings are well established, then thin out plants as required to give them sufficient space to grow and develop into strong, healthy sunflowers.
