When sowing indoors, sow seeds individually in rootrainers or 8cm pots filled with moist seed compost, planting each seed approximately 1cm deep. Water after sowing, then avoid watering again until seedlings have emerged. Keep pots at around 15°C until germination takes place.

When sowing outdoors, once the soil begins to warm in spring, sow seeds directly into pre-watered, compost-enriched soil. Plant seeds around 2cm deep and 7cm apart, then keep the soil moist until seedlings appear. As plants develop, thin them out to approximately 20cm apart to give them plenty of room to grow and flower.

Grow Sweet Pea 'Cupid Mix' in a sunny position where the plants will receive plenty of light and warmth. This compact, bushy variety is ideal for pots, containers, hanging baskets and smaller garden spaces.

Keep young seedlings in a cool but bright location while they establish. When seedlings reach 7-10cm tall, pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier plants and more flowers. Autumn-sown seedlings should be protected in a cold frame, greenhouse or under a cloche during colder weather.

Plant outdoors from late March onwards, once conditions have become milder, spacing plants around 20cm apart. Take care not to disturb the roots when transplanting, as sweet peas prefer to be moved as little as possible.
