Harvest
Tomato ‘Crokini’ is an exciting new cherry tomato producing an abundance of sweet, flavourful fruits that don’t split easily in wet conditions and have good resistance to blight and other diseases. This tasty cordon tomato is ideal for snacking and salads.
Sow indoors
January-April: Sow individually, in clean 9cm (3 1/2in) pots or module trays of firm, pre-watered compost and cover with 1cm (1/2in) of vermiculite or sieved compost. Place in warmth, 18-21°C (65-70°F) and keep moist at all times.
Plant out
May-June: Grow on at 15°C (60°F) until late May. When established, plant into a patio pot 30cm (12in) in diameter, or a grow bag, and leave in a cool, frost-free greenhouse or place in a sunny, sheltered position when the risk of frost has passed.
Tips
Water well and feed regularly with liquid tomato fertiliser once fruits start to swell. Tie stems to a support as they grow and remove side shoots.
How to grow
Tomatoes are easy to grow from seed, provided you have somewhere warm and sunny to sow them. A heated greenhouse is ideal, but you can also sow tomato seeds in pots on a sunny windowsill. Sow tomato seeds indoors from January to April. Sow the seeds thinly in seed trays filled with peat-free seed compost, water gently, and cover lightly with a 1cm (1/4in) layer of compost or vermiculite. Cover with clingfilm to create a humid environment. Place the trays somewhere warm, such as a heated greenhouse or sunny windowsill. Remove the clingfilm once the seeds have germinated and keep the compost moist. If grown on a windowsill, try to turn the tray regularly so the plants don’t lean towards the light.
