How To Sow My Seeds

Seed sowing requirements vary between the varieties in this collection. Follow the instructions below for each type:


Bird of Paradise: Soak seeds in water for 24 hours before sowing. Fill a seed tray with moist seed compost, level the surface and firm gently. Water well using a fine rose, then scatter the seeds thinly and cover with approximately 5mm of compost. Place in a propagator at 20-25°C, or cover with cling film and keep in a warm room until germination.


Polka Dot Plant: Fill a seed tray with moist seed compost, level and firm gently, then water well. Scatter the seeds thinly over the surface and cover with vermiculite. Place the tray in the fridge for one week before moving it to a propagator at 20-25°C, or cover with cling film and keep in a warm room until seedlings emerge.


Asparagus Fern, Eucalyptus 'Baby Blue' & Dichondra 'Silver Surfer': Fill a seed tray with moist seed compost, level and firm lightly. Water well using a fine rose, then scatter the seeds thinly over the surface and cover with a light layer of vermiculite. Place in a propagator at around 20°C, or cover the tray with cling film and keep in a warm position until germination.
