Westland PureGreen Lawn Seed is a new generation blend created to deliver an exceptionally thick, vibrant and long lasting lawn. Developed through extensive research with gardeners across the UK and Ireland, this premium mix uses carefully selected perennial varieties, including Westland’s own West Green seed. These grasses thrive in local climate conditions and naturally create a dense sward that suppresses weeds for a cleaner, healthier looking lawn.
The blend includes seasonally adaptive varieties that establish quickly in spring, develop deep roots for improved drought tolerance in summer, and form a close knit, ultra fine lawn surface throughout autumn. PureGreen also copes well with winter cold, helping prevent bare patches where moss could develop.
Every seed is coated with natural growth enhancers including seaweed extract, biostimulants, mycorrhizal fungi and nitrogen fixing microbes. These support strong germination and vigorous rooting, even in cooler conditions. The distinctive green coating also acts as a natural bird deterrent. PureGreen contains only premium perennial seed, ensuring a soft, dense, durable lawn without the patchiness associated with cheaper annual mixes.

How to Sow
For the best results, sow lawn seed in spring or early autumn when the soil is warm (above 10°C) and naturally moist.
New Lawns and Patch Repair
1. Prepare the ground Remove weeds and stones, then dig over the soil to loosen it. Rake the area smooth and level. For an improved start, apply a thin layer of Westland Lawn Seeding Soil.
2. Sow the seed Apply the seed evenly at a rate of 30g per m² using the shaker panel or a suitable spreader.
Overseeding Existing Lawns
1. Prepare the lawn Rake out thatch, dead weeds and moss to open up the surface. Add a light layer of Westland Lawn Seeding Soil to help the seed make good contact.
2. Sow the seed Apply evenly at 20g per m² using the shaker panel or spreader, focusing extra attention on thin or patchy areas.
Aftercare
Press the seed in Gently firm the seed into the soil using a roller or by walking over the area.
Water well Water thoroughly using a fine rose or sprinkler. In dry weather, water daily to keep the soil moist until the new grass is established.
Early growth Seedlings usually appear within two weeks, although cooler or dry conditions may slow this slightly.
First cut Mow when the grass reaches 5 to 8 cm. Take only the top third off and gradually reduce the height to around 2.5 cm.
Feed the lawn Apply a Westland lawn feed after two cuts to keep the lawn strong, healthy and green.
