Gazania ‘Tiger Stripes Mix’ is impossible to overlook, with its vibrant mix of daisy-like flowers in orange, white and pink shades with a dramatic stripe down each petal. These compact plants are perfect for containers and as gap-fillers in borders, flowering for months in summer.

Sow indoors

Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface and lightly cover them with a little more compost. Place in warmth 18-25°C (65-77°F) and keep moist.

Grow on

Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from bright sun. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost.

Plant out

When risk of frost has passed, gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2-3 weeks before planting out. Allow 20cm (8in) between plants. Gazanias are perfect for containers or borders, thriving in full sun.

Aftercare

Remove spent flower heads by following the stem to the base of the plant and pinch off.

How to grow

Sow seeds on to the surface of pre-watered seed compost, but don't cover them. Keep warm, around 20°C and keep moist, but not wet. Allow 1-2 weeks for germination.
