How to Grow
Plant your Amaryllis bulb in autumn using a good-quality, peat-free, loam-based compost. Choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the bulb and leave the neck and upper shoulders of the bulb exposed above the compost..
Place the pot somewhere with bright, filtered light or full light. Avoid overly dark positions while the bulb is developing.
Water sparingly at first, keeping the compost only slightly moist. Once you see active growth, increase watering and allow the plant to develop fully..
During active growth, feed every two weeks with a dilute, balanced liquid fertiliser to encourage healthy growth and spectacular flowers.
Once flowering has finished, gradually reduce watering as the leaves begin to yellow and die back. Allow the bulb to enter its dormant period and keep it dry while dormant.
Repot your Amaryllis in autumn every 3–5 years, preferably as it comes out of its dormant period.
