Aucuba Japonica 'Golden Girl' is a compact evergreen shrub that grows well in shade, with gold-speckled green leaves and red berries in autumn if planted near a male variety. This tough and reliable shrub is ideal for difficult shady spots, even coping with dry shade under trees. Low-maintenance and easy to grow.
Water regularly in the first year after planting while the plant is getting established. Mulch in spring with garden compost or well-rotted farmyard manure. Prune if needed in spring, cutting back untidy branches.
