- A colourful mix of golden-yellow and orange shades
- Easy to grow
- Ideal for cutting
With its long stems and spectacular double flowers, Calendula ‘Princess Mix’ makes a royal appearance in summer, producing an abundance of blooms in a range of bright orange and golden yellow shades. It’s easy to grow and long-flowering, coping well with all weather conditions and the long-stemmed flowers are ideal for cutting.
Sow indoors
For earlier flowering, sturdier plants, sow in trays of moist seed compost, lightly covering with a little more compost and keep in gentle warmth, 10-15°C.
Grow on
Plant 5cm apart into trays of compost when seedlings are large enough to handle. Gradually accustom to cooler conditions before planting out from April onwards, allowing about 30cm between plants.
Sow outdoors
Rake soil to provide a firm, even surface. Sow seeds thinly in pre-watered soil, lightly covering them with a little more soil. Keep moist until seedlings appear and as required in dry spells. When large enough to handle, thin seedlings to allow their development and to prevent overcrowding.
Advice
Water and feed well and remove spent flowers to prolong the display. Calendula petals are edible and make a colourful addition to salads.
