Carrot ‘Deep Purple’ is a striking dark purple colour right to the core, and keeps its colour better than most purple varieties when cooked. The long, tapered roots are tender with a sweet flavour.

Sow outdoors

March-July: Sow thinly 1cm (1?2in) deep in rows 15cm (6in) apart. Keep moist until established. Thin to 2-5cm (1-2 in) apart. Avoid crushing the leaves as the scent attracts carrot root fly.

Tips

Carrots do best on light, stone-free, fertile soils. Use netting or fleece to keep low flying carrot root fly from your crop.
