This is a typical Italian bush zucchini and is at its best picked smaller with the edible flower still on as seen in Italian markets. If left to grow, they will turn in to stripy marrows which are ideal for stuffing after removing the seeds inside. Vigorous, producing up to 5kg of fruits per plant.

Pick the male flowers in the morning (when they are open) then twist the crown to remove it as it is bitter to eat. Then simply tempura batter and fry the flowers till lightly golden, drain on kitchen roll and serve with shavings of parmesan for apertif. Also good for stuffing before cooking in the same way above.

Hardening off: Once your potted on plants reach a good size and are ready to plant out in their final location, the first step is to harden them off before moving them outdoors permanently. This involves simply placing them outdoors during the day and back undercover at night to allow them to get accustomed to the lower temperatures. Once they have been hardened off for a week your plants should be ready to plant out in their final location.
