Create a joyful splash of gold in the spring garden with Forsythia x intermedia 'Mikador'. From March to April tubular butter yellow flowers smother the bare upright branches from ground to tip, followed by sharp toothed leaves about 4cm long. When in flower, the cut stems of Forsythia x intermedia 'Mikador’ are loved by flower arrangers. Reaching only one metre, this compact deciduous shrub is as happy in a large container as in the border.

Grow in fertile, moist, well-drained soil, in full sun or dappled shade. To maintain a natural shape prune Forsythia x intermedia 'Mikador' after flowering, removing some of the flowering stems. In spring, the yellow flowers dazzle when this hardy shrub is planted against a background of dark evergreen foliage.

Can’t plant straight away?

Place in a sheltered spot and water regularly to keep the compost moist.

Dig a hole approximately twice as deep and 3 times as wide as the plant’s rootball. If your soil is heavy mix in a soil improver before backfilling. Firm the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
