Flowering
Leucothoe 'Little Flames' is one of those shrubs that keeps getting better as the seasons change. Fresh foliage emerges in brilliant shades of crimson and scarlet before maturing to glossy deep green through summer. As temperatures cool, the leaves transform once again into rich tones of scarlet, burgundy and bronze, creating a striking display that continues well into autumn and winter.
Unlike many colourful shrubs that need full sun to perform, 'Little Flames' thrives in partial and full shade, making it an excellent choice for brightening woodland gardens, sheltered borders and other darker corners of the garden. Its colourful evergreen foliage provides welcome interest throughout the year, even when neighbouring plants have died back for winter.
Its naturally compact, bushy habit and gently arching stems make it easy to incorporate into gardens of any size. Equally at home in borders or patio containers, it adds colour, texture and structure without overwhelming the space. In spring, clusters of delicate white, bell-shaped flowers appear among the foliage, providing a subtle display that also attracts bees and other pollinating insects.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, Leucothoe 'Little Flames' performs best in moist, humus-rich, acidic to neutral soil. Whether planted as a feature in a container or combined with acers, azaleas, pieris and other shade-loving plants, it delivers dependable evergreen beauty and exceptional seasonal colour year after year.

Guide To Plant Sizes
Guide to Shrub Plant Sizes
Our Shrubs come in sizes from 9cm pots up to 15L. All are mature enough to be planted out into their final position in the garden.
How you will receive your plants:
Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, you will receive your plant in a pot. If you have ordered your shrub during autumn or winter it may appear yellow or have no leaves. The plant is still healthy and ready to plant but looks different during different seasons.
Can’t plant straight away?
Place in a sheltered spot and water regularly to keep the compost moist.
Planting instructions:
Unpack and as long as the weather is favourable, put outside as soon as it arrives and give it a water.
When ready to plant, ensure it’s positioned in the right location and aspect in the garden.
Keep the area around it clear to avoid overcrowding which reduces its establishment and growth.
Dig a hole approximately twice as deep and 3 times as wide as the plant’s rootball. If your soil is heavy, mix in a soil improver before backfilling. We also recommend adding plant feed into the hole before back filling to help establishment and growth.
Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same level in the ground as it did in the pot. Firm the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
Feeding and aftercare: Keep it well watered and fed for establishment and growth. Trim in summer if needed to maintain the shape of the plant. Can be mulched in autumn/spring each year.
Planting and Flowering Months:
Planting and flowering months are subject to seasonal weather conditions. Shrubs can be planted all year round but take extra care during the cold winter months to avoid frost and hot summer months with extra watering.
