Keep the soil moist.
Planting tips and hints:
Planting in the ground: Best planted in autumn or spring while the ground is more moist. Dig a hole the same size as the pot your sedum comes in and place the sedum in the hole with the top of its compost level with the surface of the soil. Allow 0.5 metres between this plant and others as it will cover more ground as it grows. Water well.
Plant in very well-drained soil in full sun. If planting in containers, use a shallow container with good drainage holes and fill with a mixture of multipurpose compost and horticultural grit to improve drainage.
Water regularly while plants are settling in. Once established, natural rainfall should provide enough water except in very dry periods when additional watering may be needed. Feed once a year in spring with a balanced liquid feed.
Aftercare: Cut back spent stems after flowering or leave to die back naturally. Split plants every three or four years in spring so that they remain vigorous. To avoid ‘flopping’, especially in fertile soils, cut back every third stem at the end of May. This will produce plants that are less lush and which will flower slightly later and avoid an open centre.
