Flowering
Petunia ‘Sophistica Lime Bicolour’ produces abundant flowers with striking pink and lime green markings, each flower with its own unique pattern. Flowering all summer, they’re ideal for pots and hanging baskets. In cool temperatures, the pink colouring becomes more prominent, while as the weather warms up the flowers become more lime-green.
Sow indoors
Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost. Sow seeds thinly over the surface, but do not cover them with compost. Place in the warmth 18-25°C (65-75°F), and keep moist. Dry conditions will prevent the seeds germinating.
Grow on
Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight. When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost.
Plant out
Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions for 2–3 weeks before planting out when danger of frost has passed. Allow 30cm (12in) between plants. Choose a sheltered spot in full sun.
Aftercare
Water well in dry weather and feed plants regularly with a liquid fertiliser.
Tips
This seed is tiny and needs handling with care to avoid crushing. For extra protection and ease of sowing it is pelleted and filled into a fine seed sower.
How to grow
Sow seeds on to the surface of pre-watered seed compost, but don't cover them. Keep warm, around 20°C and keep moist, but not wet. Allow 1-2 weeks for germination.
