Flowering

Flowering
  • Hardy primroses for early spring colour
  • Flowers from late winter into spring
  • Perfect for beds, borders and containers
  • Easy to grow and low maintenance

Bring your garden to life after winter with Primrose 'Husky Mix'. This cheerful blend produces masses of brightly coloured flowers above neat rosettes of green foliage, creating a welcome splash of colour when little else is in bloom.

Ideal for beds, borders, containers and woodland-style planting, these reliable primroses thrive in cooler conditions and return with a vibrant display year after year when grown in the right conditions. Their compact habit makes them perfect for edging paths, filling gaps in borders or adding instant colour to patio pots.

Easy to grow and low maintenance, Primrose 'Husky Mix' is an excellent choice for brightening the garden from late winter into spring while providing an early source of nectar for pollinating insects.

How To Grow

Professional Grower Plugs:
If you can’t pot your Professional Grower Plugs on straight away, keep them moist until you're ready. Stand the trays in a saucer or shallow tray of water to allow the plugs to absorb moisture from below. For the best results, pot them on within 3 days of arrival.

Potting on Professional Grower Plugs:
On arrival, stand the trays in shallow water to ensure the compost and roots are thoroughly moist. Using the end of a pencil or a narrow dibber, gently ease each plug from its tray. Fill 3-inch (9cm) pots with a good-quality potting compost, lightly firm the surface, then make a planting hole with your pencil or dibber. Place each plug into the hole and gently firm the compost around the base of the plant. Once all your plugs have been potted on, water thoroughly using a watering can fitted with a fine rose to avoid disturbing the compost. Grow the plants on in a greenhouse, cold frame or on a bright, sunny windowsill. Water every 2–3 days, or more frequently in warm, sunny weather, to keep the compost evenly moist.

Hardening off:
Once your plants have grown on well and are ready to be planted in their final position, they should be hardened off first. Place them outdoors during the day and bring them back under cover at night for around a week. This gradual process helps them adjust to cooler temperatures and outdoor conditions before planting.

Garden Ready Plants:
If you can't plant your Garden Ready Plants immediately, keep them well watered until you're ready. They can be stood in a shallow tray of water for a short time to prevent them drying out. Garden Ready Plants are large and well established, so they can be planted straight into their final position in beds, borders, containers or hanging baskets.

Guide To Plant Sizes

Professional Grower Plugs:
Supplied in trays of 20 or 60, Professional Grower Plugs offer excellent value and are ideal for gardeners who enjoy growing plants on themselves. Raised under carefully controlled nursery conditions, they arrive ready to be potted into 9cm pots before growing on indoors or in a greenhouse. Once hardened off, they'll be ready to plant outdoors after the risk of frost has passed.

Garden Ready Plants:
Supplied in trays of 12, Garden Ready Plants are our largest plug plants and the perfect choice if you want quicker results. Carefully grown on before dispatch, they're ready to plant straight into beds, borders, containers or hanging baskets, where they'll establish quickly and provide a colourful display.
