Polestar gives you tall free-flowering plants perfect for vertical gardening and when space is tight. Salmon-coloured edible flowers come out in big numbers which turn into bunches of stringless beans reaching an impressive 25cm (10in) in length. Pick them young if you like tender and sweet beans and leave to mature beans if you like them with a deeper flavour and more bite.
Polestar keeps its vigour throughout the season and the flowers set very easily whatever the weather and when pollinator (bees and flies) numbers are low. We recommend you sow twice for a double dose of beans in one year. Sow in March for mid-summer harvests and in June for an autumn harvest.
