Place in a sheltered spot and water regularly to keep the compost moist

Planting tips and hints:

Planting in containers: Select a container with good drainage holes. Fill with a 3:1 mix of loam-based compost such as John Innes no 3 and horticultural grit. Plant the sempervivums so that they sit slightly above the compost, then top-dress with a layer of grit to stop compost splashing up onto the leaves when it rains.

Feeding and aftercare: Cut back flowerstems after flowering. Water in extended dry periods and ensure pots don’t become waterlogged, especially in winter.
