Erythronium 'Pagoda' is a top choice for shady gardens, with charming yellow nodding flowers on slender stems above bronze-mottled leaves in spring. Each stem carries up to 10 flowers, creating a beautiful spring display. This vigorous spring bulb will gradually spread to form large clumps.
How you will receive your bulbs:
Selected by our team of experts and sent from our nursery, you will receive spring-flowering bulbs in the autumn in a breathable mesh bag. This is to keep the bulbs together in a pack that is nice and airy – perfect to keep the bulbs healthy while in transit.
Can’t plant straight away?
Keep your bulbs in a cool, dark, and dry place and aim to plant them within a week of receiving them, so that they don’t dry out.
Planting tips and hints:
Planting in the ground: You can plant your Erythronium bulbs any time between September and November. Dig a hole with a trowel or a bulb planter approximately 15cm deep. Plant bulbs approximately 10cm apart. If planting in heavy soil, mix in some quality bulb compost and potting grit to improve drainage. Place the bulb in the hole with the pointed end facing upwards, then fill the hole and compact the soil gently. Water in to moisten the soil.
Planting in containers: Use a mix of 2 parts bulb compost and 1 part potting grit for good drainage. Plant the bulbs in the compost about 15cm deep and 10cm apart. Water just enough to settle the soil, then place the container in a sheltered shady spot.
